ATARI TEENAGE RIOT

Long live Digital Hardcore!

ROWDY SUPERSTAR

Rowdy Superst*r is the name of the London-raised non-conformist, who wilfully rebels against preconceptions to create a music that transcends trends and guidelines. Inspired by the likes of Prince, Bowie and M.I.A. and using light as his muse Rowdy's music embodies the ethos of early hip-hop, punk and 90's pop to concoct a fresh sound, arrestingly bold songs, wily structures and catchy top lines. "How to describe Rowdy Superstar? Rowdy is one of the most bizarre would be pop icons to come our way in some time. The fast rising British talent almost escapes categorisation." Clash Magazine After uploading a collection of demos called Avoid Lines, down tempo hip-pop track 'Tick Tock' and its art house video directed by Ollie Evans (The Gossip, Noisettes, The Klaxons) brought attention online, leading to collaborations with Patrick Wolf, Micachu and a feature with Zero 7. Rowdy continues to build a reputation for his riotous live performances, with his background in dance and fashion put to full use. "Rowdy Superst*r is like a meteorite that has crash landed from another musical planet. This unstoppable comet ball of fire ignites the stage with his experimental tracks, lights, costumes and moves." Fred Butler 2010 saw Rowdy shot by Nick Knight for i-D magazine's Anniversary issue alongside Lady Gaga, LaRoux, The XX and more as the "Now, Then and Next" of music and fashion. Shot by Tim Walker for a feature in W Magazine as a poster boy of London cool and winning over the team at Clash Magazine who named Rowdy as "One To Watch". Rowdy has just returned from a successful sellout tour of UK and Europe with Patrick Wolf, with whom he formed a super group with for his single launch party in conjunction Rough Trade's National Record Store Day. Rowdy is now in the final stages of co producing his debut album with electronic pioneer Matthew Herbert (Bjork, Radiohead, Roisin Murphy) which is scheduled for an Autumn 2011 release. Rowdy's first single 'Get Ur Shizzit Riiiight" is now available as a digital download and limited 7' vinyl on Accidental Records.
